Kathryn Schofield grew up in the Bay Area. She has been living and working here most of her life. She loves raising her family here, and can’t imagine living anywhere else. Kathryn handles estate planning, probate and litigation — including elder abuse, will contests, contract disputes, and employment law.

Kathryn is as comfortable handling a modest estate plan as she is arguing a complicated case to a judge.

Kathryn’s varied background and experience makes her uniquely qualified to take on all kinds of legal matters. She has a background in medical research in aging populations, and has a master’s degree in child development from U.C. Davis. Kathryn graduated from U.C. Davis Law School in 1999. While in law school, Kathryn externed for Judge Garland Burrell (U.S. District Court, Eastern District) and Justice Consuelo Callahan (then of the 3rd District Court of Appeal, now of the 9th Circuit). She made editor of Law Review, and was also Managing Editor of the U.C. Davis Journal of Juvenile Law and Policy.

Until forming her own firm in 2007, Kathryn worked for a Walnut Creek law firm specializing in class actions. At that firm, she handled consumer, securities and employment cases venued throughout California and the United States. She is a past president of the Women’s Section of the Contra Costa County Bar Association, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Contra Costa County Bar Association.

These days, Kathryn finds working helping real people with their real legal needs particularly gratifying. She is sensitive to the needs of families dealing with the legal issues that come with aging parents, troubled children, and family businesses.
